Most of the "big pharma" are active at this multi-billion animal health care market. Bayer (€8 B in Q3 of 2008) and Schering Plough ($14.2 B  in the first nine months of 2008) are the market leaders with lines of products for the treatment of a variety of animal pests and diseases, including ticks.

Other "big pharma" active in the animal healthcare market include Pfizer, Novartis and Wyeth.

There are important smaller "niche" players specializing in animal care. These include Control Solutions and Merial.
